Welcome to the Olton Area Library, Olton, TX!

Welcome to Olton Area Library! We are located at 701 Main St. in Olton, TX, which is 23 miles west of Plainview and 51 miles northwest of Lubbock.  The library occupies almost 4,000 square feet in 2 large rooms plus a shared commons room with Sand Crawl Museum. Olton's current population is 2,288.   The library, an individually registered state library, has current fiction for adults, young adults, and children, DVDs, and also has a Spanish collection that includes DVDs.  Originally one of the first area libraries to circulate video, the visual offerings include non fiction and fiction DVDs.  Current audio book holdings are in CD format and are checked out with a no late fee policy.  Sand Crawl Museum visitors are surprised to find a rich local story of a town begun in 1908. Guided tours can be arranged for groups with prior notification. The only public access free Internet service in the community, the library has 9 public Internet stations. Wi Fi is available and is used frequently by travelers.  Video gaming began with a Wii system in the activity room in July 2008. Families are invited to schedule games together.  To play without a parent in the library, a child must be age 12 and have a permission slip on file in the library.  Internet stations are filtered for patrons 17 and younger.
